KOOPERATIBEN KONTSEILUA is the highest body for the promotion and dissemination of the cooperative movement and serves as the public consultative and advisory body to the Basque public administrations on matters related to the cooperative movement. We work to foster a strong, innovative cooperative movement committed to the economic and social development of the Basque Country.

Public entity that promotes cooperativism in the Basque Country

KOOPERATIBEN KONTSEILUA is the highest body for the promotion and dissemination of the cooperative movement and serves as the public consultative and advisory body to the Basque public administrations on matters related to the cooperative movement. We work to foster a strong, innovative cooperative movement committed to the economic and social development of the Basque Country.

Our mission is to promote a strong, innovative and committed cooperativism with the economic and social development of the Basque Country, promoting its values, promoting knowledge and contributing to the strengthening of the cooperative model.

Functions

SPREAD

Disseminate the principles of the cooperative movement; collaborate in the research, planning and execution of programs for the development and promotion of cooperativism; and promote cooperative education and training.

INFORM

To report on draft laws and regulations that directly affect cooperatives and their organizations, as well as to prepare studies, proposals and opinions on matters within their competence. It will also report on the regulatory bases for subsidies that directly affect cooperatives or their organizations.

COLLABORATE

Collaborate with the Administration in the dissemination and compliance with the provisions of this Law and, in particular, with the principles of cooperatives. In particular, it shall ensure compliance with cooperative principles, in particular democratic control and economic participation of its members, without prejudice to the supervisory functions that correspond to the Basque Government or other public administrations in accordance with Article 147.1.

ORGANIZATION

The organisation of services of common interest to the federations of cooperatives and, where appropriate, to cooperatives.

CONTRIBUTE

To contribute to the improvement of the legal and institutional regime of the socio-economic organization of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country and to participate in the institutions and bodies that exist to achieve it.

INTERVENTION

Intervening by arbitration in matters of a binding nature that arise between cooperatives, between cooperatives and their members, or between members within cooperatives, when both parties so request or are obliged to do so in accordance with their statutes, internal regulations or arbitration clause. In any case, the question must be about matters that can be freely decided by the parties in accordance with the law and, above all, it affects the interpretation and application of the principles, norms, customs and customs of a cooperative nature.

KOOPERATIBEN KONTSEILUA participates in those organizations and projects that contribute to the development, innovation and dissemination of cooperativism in the Basque Country.

Hazikoop promotes cooperative entrepreneurship in the Basque Country, offering advice, training and support for the creation and consolidation of new cooperatives.

Elkargi facilitates access to financing for cooperatives and other companies through guarantees, financial solutions and specialized advice, contributing to the development and growth of the Basque business fabric.
